Ação da Cidadania
Since 1993, the heart of Ação da Cidadania’s work has been the fight against hunger and extreme poverty. Idealized by our founder, Herbert de Souza, Betinho, we have this as our main objective. Ação supports projects in the areas of family farming, food security, the fight for public policies to combat hunger and direct actions to reduce hunger and extreme poverty in the communities where it operates, through its extensive network of community committees. In a catastrophic context of more than 80 million Brazilians in some degree of food insecurity, more than 10 million people going hungry in Brazil, Ação da Cidadania created the Betinho Agenda with 40 proposals to guarantee , to develop and strengthen municipal public policies for Food and Nutrition Security in the country.
CIEDS
For 23 years, we have been promoting a better Brazil for everyone through projects, programs and actions that generate more income, better health, better education, greater confidence in the future and, above all, prosperity. We do all this by building networks of strategic partners committed to the sustainable development of our country.
We develop social projects across the country through the articulation of strategic partnerships with private companies, organizations, foundations and initiatives. We address issues such as strengthening public education, democratizing culture, youth entrepreneurship, community development and advice on the implementation of socio-assistance public policies. Thus, we provide the dignity and citizenship of the participants.
Gastromotiva
Founded in 2006 by chef and social entrepreneur David Hertz, Gastromotiva is co-creator of the Social Gastronomy Movement.A global initiative that connects people, projects, companies, universities, international agencies, governments and civil society around the transformative power of food. Hunger, waste, lack of opportunity, obesity and malnutrition are global challenges that require joint action. Based on the experience accumulated over more than a decade of work and social impact in Brazil, Mexico, South Africa and El Salvador, Gastromotiva contributes to the transformation of lives locally, and increasingly extends its vision globally in cooperation with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Instituto Dara
The Dara Institute is an independent civil society organization, a pioneer in the world in intersectoral work based on the social determinants of health and a creator of a social technology to combat extreme poverty. The Family Action Plan (PAF) is an award-winning intersectoral methodology capable of generating lasting results in five key areas: health, income, education, housing and citizenship.
In over 30 years of history, Dara has impacted the lives of thousands of families in extremely vulnerable situations and has inspired new projects and public policies around the world. Formerly Saúde e Criança Renascer, the Dara Institute has received more than 50 awards and honours both in Brazil and internationally, as the best NGO in Latin America and ranked 21st in the world by NGO Advisor in 2022.
Created in 1991 by physician Vera Cordeiro, the Dara Institute works with governments and civil society to design solutions based on scientific and social knowledge. With our main office in Rio de Janeiro we also have offices in Brasília (DF), São Paulo (SP) and New York (USA).
Ipê – Instituto de Pesquisas Ecológicas
The Ipê Institute is currently one of the largest environmental NGOs in Brazil and is recognized as a civic organization. It is now headquartered in Nazaré Paulista (São Paulo State) with a staff of over ninety professionals working in more than forty projects throughout Brazil. These include the Pontal do Paranapanema and Nazaré Paulista (São Paulo State), Ariri (São Paulo and Parana states), the Lower Rio Negro (Amazonas State), the Pantanal (Mato Grosso do Sul State), and a private area in Portel (Pará State).
Since its inception, IPÊ has emphasized communicating knowledge and research results. To this end, we continuously train our staff and offer opportunities and incentives to interns, many of whom continue to work with us after graduation. IPÊ relies on staff holding ten Ph.D. and twenty Master’s degrees. Many are also instructors in the Center for Brazilian Biodiversity Conservation (CBBC) and ESCAS – Escola Superior de Conservação Ambiental e Sustentabilidade (Graduate School in Environmental Conservation), a university created in partnership with Natura and Instituto Arapyaú.
PUC – Rio
The Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio; Faculdade Católicas) is a non-profit philanthropic and scientific-technological institution of higher education that strives for the production and transmission of knowledge, based on Christian ethical values, solidarity and human respect. It is a community of people united by a common interest, seeking the development and improvement of the society.
Over more than 80 years of existence, during which more than 144 thousand people have obtained some kind of academic degrees, it has sought excellence in research, teaching, extension and [social] innovation, as well as educated competent professionals, qualified for the full performance of their functions. These professionals are inserted into the Brazilian reality and trained to always put science and technology at the service of man, collaborating through the knowledge acquired at the Entrepreneurial University to build a better world.
Rede Asta
We create actions that connect nano entrepreneurs to opportunities to generate income, financial freedom and freedom of choice. Rede Asta is a Brazilian social business that promotes national craftsmanship, sells its pieces, with more than 80% of production being done using upcycling techniques. That is, with reuse and materials. At Espaço Asta, we serve individuals and provide personalized service for companies that wish to transform their waste into products for their own consumption or gifts for their audiences with social and environmental responsibility.
Sistema B
Sistema B Brasil is a partner organization of B Lab since 2012, and responsible for the engagement, dissemination and local promotion of the entire B movement across the country. The Global Movement of B Corps was created in 2006 in the United States with the aim of redefining success in the economy so that not only financial success is considered, but also the well-being of society and the planet. This is a global community of leaders who use their businesses to build a more inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system for people and the planet.
Uniperiferias
The International University of the Peripheries operates in the development of an international network dedicated to the formation of subjects, production of knowledge and actions that make visible and strengthen the powers of the peripheries. We are a civil society university, designed by the Maria e João Aleixo Institute, and we are dedicated to training specialists in peripheries, producing knowledge and actions that make visible and strengthen the powers of the peripheries. We act in the development of an international network and work to build a social and political agenda that has as its axis the interests of the vast majority of the population, in particular women, black people, native peoples and peripheral people.”
